OCTOBER / THE HAIR NOTE
WHY IS MY HAIR SHEDDING?
Lately, so many of you have asked me about hair shedding. I know how unsettling it can feel to see more hair in the shower and have no idea why. I wanted this issue to feel like the conversation we’d have at the salon: what to notice, what can help and when to get more support.

WHY IT MIGHT BE HAPPENING
Hair can shed for many reasons: stress, hormones, illness, surgery, rapid weight loss, low protein, genetics or an unhappy scalp. The tricky part? Hair often reacts a few months after the trigger—so the cause may not be obvious right away.
A FEW THINGS TO NOTICE:
Products can help protect fragile hair, but they can’t fix every cause of shedding. If it is sudden, patchy, painful or keeps going, talk to your doctor or dermatologist.

YOUR AT-HOME HAIR-FALL PLAN
Be extra gentle for a while.
You may not be able to stop shedding overnight, but you can prevent extra breakage while your hair recovers.
Bring it up at your next appointment. Tell your stylist what you’ve noticed and when it started. We can look at your hair and scalp together during your usual consultation.

FROM THE CHAIR
ZOE
EIGHT YEARS AT THE BEVERLY
In the early days, when it was just Zoe and me, I could already see how much care she put into every guest. Eight years later, she’s a stylist and mentor our team looks up to—but the thing I admire most is Zoe herself.
She has such a beautiful way of seeing the world. She’s passionate, incredibly hard-working and, honestly, a perfectionist. She cares deeply about what she does and the people around her. I always want to be around her. To me, she’s one of the most beautiful people in the world.
HOW HAS YOUR WORK EVOLVED?
“When I first started, I was learning, building my skills and figuring out what kind of stylist I wanted to become. Over the years, my passion naturally found its way to long, dimensional hair—and mastering the art of balayage.”
WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT YOUR CLIENTS?
“My clients have become so much more than clients—they feel like friends and family. I feel honoured to be the person they share the hardest moments, the milestones, the happiest moments and everything in between with.”
YOUR BEST BEAUTY HACK?
“In colder months, I apply a night serum to my ends, braid my hair and sleep in a silk bonnet. It treats and protects while I sleep—and creates that natural, done-but-undone texture.”
WHAT’S INSPIRING YOU RIGHT NOW?
“The change of season, new energy and trying new hobbies. There’s something special about being a beginner as an adult. My newest hobby is stained-glass making.”
